Corvette C6-R Test Car

Completed a rebuild of my first C6-R which was painted the wrong color and had the kit chrome for the rims.

It's based on a photo I saw of an early test version. I printed the photo out, but don't have a digital version. You'll have to use your imagination I guess...

I added the #4 today to mark this most sad day in Wisconsin (and for Packer fans everywhere)... It's fitting the 4 is even green.

My first attempts at weathering:

Opened up the rear AC condenser vent:

And a preview of the next one:

Re: Corvette C6-R Test Car

I love it! It looks so mean and powerful. The color scheme, wheels and exhaust are excellent. The rear end is a bit plain perhaps - nothing you can slap on there to spice it up? Just a thought, I guess you achieved what you were shooting for though. Great work.

Re: Corvette C6-R Test Car

agreed, its mean looking. Fantastic job on the weathering. The only problem I have with the C6R set is the wings, the angle of it is too much leaning downwards....you can really tell from the side and front views....it should be more strait, like this:

Just a little bit of trimming and they can look spot on.

Heres the only pic of the test version I could find, at least it has the right wheels!

Whats the next car?

Most of the decals were lost when the original was stripped. I'll dig around and see what I can find.

You're right about the wing. I'll see if I can straighten it out. Maybe it was testing at a high downforce track? The wing brackets aren't very good either. At least Revell gives us modern racing cars with lots of options and possibilities!

Where did you find the test car picture? I goofed and kept the back clip yellow; should have been the roof!

The yellow on will be the LeMan winning 64 car from (I think) 2005.

I looked around for it, we'll just assume that the Vette in the picture is the number 3 Vette, and you did the number 4 one correct

Jim this looks great! I haven't been around much lately so I am glad I saw this. Love what you did and how accurate it has become. I love any build like this where you changed what you didn't like. Really a great job.

Re: Corvette C6-R Test Car

Looks great!! I had been considering doing the same thing with one of mine.
Any chance the black on that Vette is CF though?? I would LOVE to do that!

I couldn't tell from the pics. My CF skills are nowhere near a project that ambitious. I would love to see someone else build it, hint hint. That would be a cool project hint hint.

If by Jim you meant to say Jeff, thanks! I haven't seen you post much lately. And it's you C6-R build in 24 hours that made me open up the vents on all three of my C6-R's and rebuild the wing struts. Thanks a lot man!
