Question Diesel VS. Gasoline

I am looking to buy a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Crew Cab LTZ. I will use this truck to pull a 36 ft Travel Trailer bumper pull. I also pull a boat from time to time and do a lot off off road in the woods. What are the pros and cons between 6.6L Duromax diesel VS. 6.0L Gasoline V8?

Re: Diesel VS. Gasoline

The diesel is much more expensive to buy ($8k?). It has higher torque but similar horsepower. It will get better fuel mileage, but diesel is currently more expensive per gallon than gasoline.

For your intentions, both engines will offer plenty of power. Depending on the kind of offroading you do, the extra weight of the diesel up front may get you stuck. With a diesel, if you get the air cleaner below water, you WILL damage the engine.
