2001 Escape license plate screw size?

This 2001 Escape has nuts that are welded to the body area for securing your license plate. Someone had used the wrong screws and they have rusted tight. Does anyone know the size screw that is used as I might have to tap the threads when I get the proper screws. The dealer suggested a 6mm screw but was not 100% sure. Thanks for the help.

I know they are metric. Should be easy, just take a sample screw to Lowes for the drill and tap kit.
