Re: sound system help

dude. get the nice speakers.
it'll be night and day.

getting a 'cheap' sub/amp/box will only leave you wanting.

trust me buy the nice shit. that way you don't have to go back later and figure out you wasted money on a 3rd rate system.

Re: sound system help

a actully price range is best because like to me cheap means 450 doller head unit, 250 on a set of speakers, 150 for rearfill speakers, good 4 channel amps 450 bucks. and that is being subless, just so u get an idea what some people mean by cheap. so if u give us how much u are looking to spend then we can help u better

Re: sound system help

woofers etc has average prices for internet sales, their claim to fame is that sell some higher end stuff that's VERY hard to find in the net.

Re: sound system help

you get what you pay for.
i think on that budget your best bet is a pair of the cheaper 6x9's and possibly a deck if you don't have one.
if you've already got a deck then just upgrade your speakers.
that's the best you'll do in that price range.

don't forget you get what you pay for.

Re: sound system help

I agree, if you buy cheap crap, you will get cheap crap.

Its not even worth it to buy anything for $100, its pointless.

You might be able to get a decent box for that price, but thats about it.

Not to mention, if you put 100 dollar anything in your 77 monte, you will be paying more for them than if you just dropped 8 or 900 into it because you will contantly be paying to replace the blown speakers.

If you are still not swayed to put something decent in your beauty of a classic car, than I would just buy some 6x9's, don't even screw them down cause you will be replacing them soon, and get a cheap deck, again, don't screw it in, you will be taking it out soon. Whether its walmart or schucks, their both cheap, and they both suck.

If your anywhere near seattle, check out www.superstereowarehouse.com they might be able to help you out with a budget, but I can guarantee it will be more than $100

Re: sound system help

Sounds like mobilemom has run into a lot of the same folks I have. She speaks the truth on this one, you actually end up spending more if you keep buying crappola. Save a little money and look around for some bargains - i.e. ebay, groupbuys, for sale sections, etc ...
