97 chev blazer

i have a 97 chev blazer v6, when i am sitting at a stop light i have to put the truck into neutral or park because it sounds like the motor wants to stall out on me, and does anyone know where teh cam postion sensor is located on the motor?, and my gas gauge moves alot even after just filling up the tank, it will read half when its full or the gauge won't move at all. and what should be the oil pressure when it is idle or in gear with ur foot on the brake. any info would be great thanks

I believe the crankshaft position sensor is located in the distibutor. The gas gauge level problem sounds like a sending unit problem which is very common in these blazers. I lived with a faulty level reading for years until I finally ran out of gas once and decided to replace the fuel pump, which contains the sending unit. I have a 97 Blazer also and my oil pressure reads ~60 psi when it is cold, and just under 40 psi when it is warmed up sitting at a stop light.

Re: 97 chev blazer

Cam sensor does not have much to do with idle.
Idle is pc controlled.
Get it on a scanner and check out IAC valve and for any other codes.
Look for vacuum hoses of or sucking air.
And watch and check the egr valve operation in the scanner.
Any check engine lights or codes?
