Ets

I just purchased a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am and there was no owners manual. Can someone please explain to me if the ETS (trac off) should be on or off. Every once in a while, the Trac Off light comes on. Should I be driving the car with this light displaying or not displaying. Thanks

Re: Ets

Welcome to AF.

The light isnt supposed to be on all the time.
Sometimes if the wheels start to spin on take off the low trac light will come on briefly.

If you push the switch on the dash(ETS) and the light is on, your traction control is OFF, and your wheels will spin more frequently.

Re: Ets

Some times you do need to shut the ETC off when you are in deep snow or stuck.
Also if you car isnt tuned up well when the traction control kicks in it makes you engine sound terrible.

Or if you want to leave some black marks on the pavement, you can turn it off, though you'll eat through some tires.
