Electrical problem(s)
Over the last few months, I've noticed an odd pattern of electrical "gremlins" with my '03 Silhouette Premier. While under load, blower fan(s) on, as I use the right turn signal, there is a pulsing of power that can be heard through the fans, and is noticible through the headlights at night. Now the passenger seat belt indicator on the dash flashes with the right turn signal. During idle, or with low fan speeds (1 or 2) it is not noticable. Last month I replaced the intake gaskets, plugs, wires, H20 pump, and alternator. I'm ignorant when it comes to electircal and I don't understand the schematics in the Haynes manual well enough to know where to start.

Re: Electrical problem(s)
You should look at the right tail light assembly (remove the connector) for moisture damage or shorts.
The taillights develop shorts that cause all sorts of problems up front. Not sure that's your problem, but its where I'd start looking. John |

Re: Electrical problem(s)
I just rec'd a call from the dealership. I installed the wrong alternator when I replaced the OE last month. The auto parts store (Murrays) sold me the 125amp that is for the Silhouette with VersaTrac(all wheel drive), instead of the 105amp I should have received. Everything hooked up like the old one, so how could I have known? Oh well...
Just r/r'd the alternator...SAME PROBLEM...back to the dealership. I hate electrical problems! Last edited by 92Blue; 03-11-2008 at 03:34 PM. |

Re: Electrical problem(s)
I agree with the tail light assembly. I had problems with speed control disengaging and traction shutting off. The Left rear tail lamp assembly ground connector was corroded and open, I pulled the pins out and cleaned with fine wet & dry and scraped the connections clean. - Problems fixed. If you need more info I could take photos, but it is too cold outside for now (-8 c).
