*NEED HELP* Brake Light short

My passenger side Brake light & reverse light won't work on my 98 GMC Sierra. The running light works. I have changed the board in there and it still doesn't work.
Thanks,
Brandon

Re: *NEED HELP* Brake Light short

I think the parts book called it a taillight connector plate, if that is the board your talking about? Did you check the wiring connector? For the brake, this info shows the dark green wire is B+ when you step on the brake. The black wire is ground. For the backup lamp, lite green wire is B+, with the vehicle in backup mode and ground is black.

It is common for the brake lite to be wired through the turn signal switch. The brake lite and turn signal use the same circuit, just not at the same time.

I just wanted to add. The color of the wire at the plate connector for brake b+ could be green or yellow, I've seen it both ways, the wiring diagram from one source shows green, the other source show yellow.
