96 chevy blazer

i have a friend that has a 96 chevy blazer.. her words to me are this...
"it had power and would crank, but wont turn over. fuel lines are ok and electronics don't throw any codes"
the problem is she didn't do this she was told by a friend looking at the car. i haven't had the chance to look at it yet but the guy said that it's probably her injectors and he wants 400 dollars to get the injectors because he has to buy them all to fix it... she gave him the keys so he can work on it and he hasn't worked on it yet.. been over a week.. i offered help as best i can by going through you guys.. i know a little bit but my car is a sohc stealth so platform is different..
Where should i start? just try sprayin carb cleaner in TB and see if it starts that way to findout if it's fuel..make sure plugs aren't fouled? that kinda stuff?

Re: 96 chevy blazer

Welcome to AF.
If the starter turns it over good go for a fuel pressure check.
4.3 V8 needs 64 lbs or more cranking fuel pressure to start.
If good fuel pressure check for good hot sppark to all plugs.

Also a good time to check plugs and fuel filter and other stuff.
Was there any check engine lights on before it quit?

The V8 was a bad typo .
My pc does not always say what I tell it to say.
Sorry about that.
But check it for a V6 or 4 cyl engine,
Yes a shot carb cleaner will tell you if it is a fuel delivery problem.
If it starts and runs a few seconds on carb cleaner check fuel system.
I do not think injectors are the start problem.
Save that 400$ for the real problem.

Re: 96 chevy blazer

turning over and cranking are the same thing, no? I'm thinking it will turn over but not start.

Could be alotta things. Seems strange to start with injectors, but if the guy diagnosed it that way, it's possible. That's the vortec 4.3 with the injectors under the plastic plenum I think. Common for the injectors to stick, not that common for ALL of 'em to stick and cause a no-start, but not unheard of I suppose.

Fuel pumps go bad on those things all the time. That would be more common.
