Bleeding cooling system on a 95 GTP
Hi,
does anyone know how to ensure that all the air is out of the system after bleeding it? I have already bled the system however, either I did not bleed it enough or there is air through it. any help is appreciated. Thanks |

Re: Bleeding cooling system on a 95 GTP
Bleeding air out of the cooling system on your 3.4 DOHC is no different than any other GM car unless you have other issues with the cooling system. Try bleeding more with the bleeder on the thermostat housing until you get a steady stream of coolant and no air. As a suggestion it may help to raise the front end of the car. Get the radiator higher than the engine.
And welcome to AF.

Re: Bleeding cooling system on a 95 GTP
Im curious as to why you think that it isnt bleed fully yet.Is the car over heating, not getting hot,no heat at the vents,or smoking terribly when driving?theres two ways to bleed these systems.one is through the bleeder valve at the thermostat but if thats not an opition(its broke or wont move)you can manually bleed them by starting the car and letting it get to normal op. temperature then shuting it off and waiting for it to cool again, its not the best way and its hard telling if you get all the air out but you gotta do what you gotta do sometimes.A note about the gtp and its thermostat location. When you bleed them or drian them at the hose near the thermostat alot of coolant will drain into the exhaust manifold and cause alot of smoking if you dont rinse it out.Scared the hell out of me my first time.I thought i had blown a head gasket!
