'98- Body kit, speedometer, tranny, power lock problems.

Soooooo, I've got a '98 Honda Accord EX 2D V6 V-Tec with about 113k miles (ouch), automatic transmission. Just a little FYI.

Problems:

-Body kit

Lets see, the body kit I've got on it has a minor crack, about 2 inches long in the back and a smaller one on the front. I was wondering if anybody knows if it's possible to like, sand it down and smooth it out, repair it enough so that I could repaint it.

The body shop said it'd be cheaper to just order a whole new kit, but then again, I paid another shop $400 to stick a freakin' wire into my engine to bypass a relay to work my fuel pump... which I was doing before I brought it there, but figured it'd be unsafe... but that's another story.

- Not a big issue, but my speedometer seems to be off. By off I mean consistently increasing.

i.e.
My actual speed/my reading
0-0 mph
10-12
20-25
30-36
...
55-65

It's odd. I was looking at threads about the VSS, so I might check that out, but I thought if anybody has had a similar problem, they might be able to quick diagnose it, ehh?

-Transmission prob.

Again, I read some threads about this, but thought I'd throw it in here;

My vehicle's automatic; between first and second gear, it shifts hard, I wonder if it's the timing, or if my transmission's just going out. 'Cause that'd suck. Lots.

-Power lock

When I use the power lock, on either the driver side door, or the passenger side door, it'll lock the drivers, but the passenger side makes clicking noises (or noise) and doesn't move. I figured it's probably just a disengaged metal arm or something inside the door panel that needs to be either repaired or replaced.

---------

Well these are my problems, so any help would be appreciated!

Re: '98- Body kit, speedometer, tranny, power lock problems.

Body kit is easy to repair, I do it all the time.

Depending on how strong you want the repair to be, you could start with fiberglass bondo. Sand the damage area until the paint is gone and then apply the mixed fiberglass bondo and shape it. Then sand it down again. You'll see some tiny holes but you can use puddy or bondo to cover it.

For durability repair, (I always use this) Buy Resin and fiber mesh. Mix resin with hardener and apply on the damage area then patch the cracks or hole with the mesh and soak it with resin, layers by layers until it's thick and strong. (Thats how the fiberglass bodykit were made, layers of fiber mesh and resin.)

The relay stuff I'll let you deal with it I have no clue what you are talking about

The spedo off could cause by rims. Wrong radius of wheel and tires combination will throw the speedo meter off. Basic math problem.

For tranny make sure you have changed its oil. If you have never changed it until now, it might have been too late... But change it anyway with Honda Z1 fluid see if it works. Most of the shop will tell you to swap the tranny if it still slipping.

Door lock you might have to check the metal hook, it may have come off. The motor turns but probably not pulling the lock.

Hope this helps.
