move MAF = better performance?

Hi all,
I wonder if I, an ordinary guy, will notice any performance improvement if I move the MAF closer to the throttle body (as it is in the Corvette LT1)?
I already got a K&N FIPK gen II which IMHO gave quicker response (and nicer sound as a bonus). I´m going to replace the baseplate with a puck as well. If not for performance then for more sound, when I lived in Stockholm I drove my -71 vette in the tunnels at night just for the sound experience. That´s weird but hey, what ever makes You tick
Another MAF-question; is there an easy way to check the calibration of the MAF, like voltmeasuring sensor when at idle or something. I think I put too mush filteroil on the K&N filter and that could affect the MAF even f it gets just a little on the sensor, right?

Good Roadmastering everybody!
(OK ImpalaSS, Fleetwood ´n´Caprices too)

Re: move MAF = better performance?

Move it wherever you want. No gains at all.

Re: move MAF = better performance?

only benefit may be better throttle repsonse. Better gain is to have a straighter intake.
