What is that rusty box(on foto)? Conti 1997

What is that rusty box in rear? I can't find it in the manual.

Too much sunlight in there, and the object size is obscured due to photography angles....

Are those green things on the right side connected to the rusted object?
How big is that thing?

EDIT:
I just downloaded and changed the gamma on that photo for visibility..
Now the green things look like Couplers, joining (converting) steel fuel lines to rubber fuel lines.
In this case, I would guess the rusted box was a shield.

Thanks a million,Steven. I consider to buy this Conti (only 102kMiles for 2500 doll), because i like it from firts look. Air suspension and engine is good, too. It will be my first car in US.
