umm sherwood...havent heard that in awhile lol
but the mtx8000's rms is probably higher than 150 watts so just look at the rms multiply by 2 and that the amp you should get

Re: sherwood a150x2 and 2 mtx subs

just so you know, its a whole hell of a lot easier to blow a sub with not enough power than too much, and sherwood blows, you're gonna get a weak distorted signal to those subs and then...poof, Id look for a new amp first

Re: sherwood a150x2 and 2 mtx subs

well, not entirely true ..... power kills speakers. Problem is, when you get an underpowered amp (for the speaker) you think the speaker can handle everything the amp can give. Unfortunately, an amp that is iin bad clipping can easily produce twice it's rated power - sometimes as much as 3 times as much. So that 500 watt amp is now putting out 1000-1500 watts.

this is true
but also isnt the distorted power transferred as heat energy and bakes the voice coils?

Re: sherwood a150x2 and 2 mtx subs

no ..... the speaker sees the distorted power as just more area under the curve (additional power).
