Re: 011 Paint Code?
I believe the Christies auction description stated it was color matched against the face of a watch. Possibly the Tag Kirium line as they have a vibrant blue face like that. There might not be a true paint code available and I have yet to see any kind of list for even the more standard F1 colors.
Also the original speculation that the car belonged to either of the Ojjeh brothers was apparently false. A few sources have attributed both chassis #011 and chassis #073 as previously belonging to a pair of brothers from South America (Brazil, I think). >8^) ER |

It's a lovely colour, probably a one-off?

Re: 011 Paint Code?
Hi Murraydeschot,
May I ask, are you trying to replicate this colour, to paint something? The paint code would be hard to get hold off from Mclaren. But having seen 011 HDF in the Jack Barclay (nine elms) showroom for the Christies auction. The colour, a very rich candy blue. Of which was so strong, could easily be picked out from a distance as I approached the showroom. This being a blue lacquer over a silver base. The blue pigment in the lacquer is more than likely, ink. As this gives a very clean tint to the lacquer, as oppossed to mixing acrylic or polyester pigments. which can make the lacquer somewhat milkey. The blue also had a strong hint of violet in the mix, thus taking the blue colour along the red scale. This colour could be replicated with alot of time and patience. The colour is simple. but the secret is in the mix!! The paint supplier to McLaren at the time of F1 production was www.sonneborn-riek.co.uk they may be able to help you with your request. Unfortunatly I did not take any pics that day, but I did manage to get about 15 minutes of digital vid tape. |

![]() But it makes more sense, as was posted earlier, that it may have come from a watch face. |

Re: 011 Paint Code?
The only automotive candy blue that comes close in colour match. Was on the Honda Blackbird, 99-04 model years. This shade would be ideal as a start point and tinted to achieve the desired result.
Honda Candy Phoenix Blue.

Re: 011 Paint Code?
I had not been back to the www.playersrun.com site for a while, they have some great pics of 011HDF in their 2006 gallery. (eight in total) Enjoy
opcorn: Every time I see this car, I go week at the knee,s (must be the colour) If I had the money, when I viewed the car in the Christies auction. I,d have worn it out by now. Shame 011 does not get out much. ![]() ![]()
