Trailer brake wires

Hello: I have a 2008 Silverado with the trailering package, I found the wires for the trailer brake but the tag is smudged, anyone know where the wires hook up to? I have red with black tracer, light blue with white tracer, white, dark blue and orange.
Thank you for your time and response.

Re: Trailer brake wires

If you do this yourself, be extremely careful hooking up trailer wiring as if there are any shorts it can cause some weird electrical problems. A little extra time soldering and shrink wrapping will save you a lot of headache later when water gets into the harness and your brake lights activate your parking lights.

Re: Trailer brake wires

Are you talking about the wires under the dash or at the back bumper? None of the colors you mentioned are listed in anything I have for trailer connections.

Re: Trailer brake wires

for a 2008 it should already be wired. all you need to do is look above the tire, unless they have all ready installed a plug on the rear of the truck. the trailer brake wire will be connected in the plug.

Re: Trailer brake wires

you will also have to make a connection under the hood of the truck to your fuse panel.... etrailer.com has a video on yo tube for your year and model that shows every step needed to make this connection and make it work right... 40 amp fuse in panel under hood is required for some years as well as hooking up the power wire.
