Maintenence costs?

How much do you typically spend in a weekend on the normal wear and tear items? I've raced a couple open wheel series and Legends, but like the idea of the Panoz cars due to their reliability (which I have had a serious problem with in the past in other cars). I completed the basic and advanced racing schools at Road Atlanta a couple years ago and loved the feel of the cars. Also, how are the replacement parts costs? Where do you buy the parts?

Thanks for any info

Re: Maintenence costs?

^ Read my post on my the experience my father and I had at VIR this past weekend. We ran the car and HPDE2 and HPDE3 respectively back to back both days. I didn't have to touch any of my tools other than the torque wrench to check the lugs each morning, my tire pressure gauge, and my fuel funnel!

The car was awesome. I have spare bearings, 4 new shocks, higher rate springs, 4 front rotors and 2 rears and 2 front spindles in the garage as things go forward. I collected the stuff from Gary Jones Motorsports and Panoz... it's cheap compared to the Corvette consumables I had to buy before.

I'm leavin the "stock" PFC 72s (I think that's the pad they are) in as they're an endurance pad that makes for very long life for our HPDE use. Also running on Nitto R2 "street" tires for long life as well.

All I'm doing to prep the car for the March event is bleeding the brakes and moving the front tires to the rear... that's it.

Now before all of this I went over the entire car, swapped all the fluids, removed some misc stufff from the engine, changed plugs, checked all the critial torque values etc.

Will be adding more power down the road which of course will tax the brakes a bit more, but the car needs more go.

Re: Maintenence costs?

These cars were designed to make a profit. Low cost on consumables and very reliable. However as we add more power the the releability will get less and the cost of consumables go up. The big question is how much power can you add without effecting consumables and reliability.
