Temp sensor short?

I have an 2000 cherokee that just went in to get inspected after a year over due. My check engine light has been on for 3 months solid. They clear all the codes (6). Drove my jeep for 30 miles and the check engine light came back on. they replaced my radaitor and temp sensor. code poped nback up for my temp sensor. when i drove every once in awhile on a right hand turn my temp gauge would spike, but go back down, no problems. seemed like a short or bad ground. the shop said i need a new pcm.....b/c they SEE nothing wrong with the wire to the temp sensor.

also my check engine light would come on when i put it in reverse and my aux fan kicked on, or i sat and idled till my aux fan would kick on. I really think it's a bad ground.

Does anyone have a clue where i should start to physicaly look in the engine bay or on my jeep? Please help....

Re: Temp sensor short?

Well, did any one bother to get the code?

When you do, see the chart at the top of this forum.

My guess is the NSS.

Yo, Really friend.. Take that heap to Auto Zone or the like. Have the code(s) scanned, get the printout, and look them up/feed them to us before you get yourself b*nt-ov*r!

~Good Luck!

Re: Temp sensor short?

Also try just visually inspecting the temp sending unit. On mines it's on the back of the block on the drivers side and was acting crazy when I first got it only to find out that the plastic and brass part had seperated.
