Got headers

So i just order my headers and i ready to get them in. I got the pacesetter long tubes with the ceramic coating and ory. I got copper gaskets because i heard the ones they send sucked nuts and some stage 8 header bolts. i'm really excited to get them in and wondering if ya'll have any tips for me when i get them, unforunately in two weeks.

Re: Got headers

Good call on the gaskets. I went with dead soft aluminum for my gaskets but the copper should work just the same. Another thing you will need is O2 extension unless you make your own with the stuff they provide you. If you make your own, I say only do it if you solder the connections and then heat shrink each individual wire (otherwise you will get cross connections).

The most important tip I can give is to get the car as high off the ground as possible.

Re: Got headers

HaHa, I just got some money from selling my bike but not that much. But seriously should i look into a cam and upper half or should i stroke it. I relize stroking it is going to cost me up the butt hole so i'm pretty sure i'm going to stick to upper half. Are those chips worth anything or are they just a waste with the minimal work i have done. let me know what order of things ya'll think i should do. thanks

Re: Got headers

Depends on what you have so far. If all you have done is the exhaust, you should look into intake bolt-ons, gears, suspension...etc. And I wouldn't look into a cam until you have most of the bolt-ons for your car. Or else you won't get the full potential of the cam.

And chips of any kind are a waste on these cars. The best thing you can do is get a tune through the PCM.

Re: Got headers

Alright so, I have been installing my headers and they have fought me the whole way. When i thought i finally had it all buttoned up and crank it up, i could tell that it was leaking on both sides. I got better gaskets they then sent, copper, it still leaks. I'm about to push it off a cliff with me in it because i'm tired of looking at it and want to drive it. Do ya'll have any idea what i did wrong and how i could fix it. please help

Re: Got headers

take the gaskests out and apply a little bit of solicone around each hole except on the bolt one, or chek if it is leaking on the o2 sensors again aplly some silicone on the threads

Re: Got headers

Make sure you torqued the bolts to the right specs. Have you identified where the leaks are actually coming from? My EGR wasn't connected all the way and it was leaking. Almost sounded like a rocker or lifter at first. Good luck.

Re: Got headers

Yeah, so i let the frustration get to me and i didn't tighten the bolts to specs. It's all together and sounds good but the y-pipe is rattling like no ones business since the bricket on the pipe and the car have about a 4 inch gap between them. Any suggestions on how to secure the pipe more or how to make that bracket work. thanks

Re: Got headers

They don't make O2 sims anymore. The best thing you can do is get the rears tuned out.
