2001 s-10 extreme ABS problem

I have a 2001 Chevy s10 Extreme and recently my ABS and Brake light has been coming on and staying on for as long as the truck is running. Normally when i hit the brakes or when I hit a bump they will come on. I can turn the truck off, turn it back on and will be off. I drive awhile and it will come back on. My brakes work fine. What could this be? I was told by a mechanic that it may be the EBCM (control module) and I'm hoping it won't be that serious seeing as it will cost nearly $900 from chevy. Please help!

Start with the cheap basics. First check the ground connection. You will find it behind the driver's headlight attached to the Radiator bracket. You might want or need to take the connection apart and clean the rust off and re-assemble.

2nd, go somewhere and have the ABS system scanned for codes to see if something comes up. If you get any codes, tell us what they are.

If you do end up needing a ECBM, DO NOT go to a Chevy dealer, RockAuto.com or GMpartsdirect.com will get you about half price.

You might get the truck scanned with an ABS capable scanner to get a trouble code...it might be a frayed wire easily repaired.
