1998 Eclipse slipping clutch
I have a 1998 Eclipse Turbo. I just had the master and slave clutch cylinders replaced at a garage. Now the clutch engages almost at the very top of the pedal. Plus the clutch slips under torque. It did neither of these things before having the cylinders replaced. The master was leaking and the clutch engaged almost at the floor which was to be expected with a bad master. Is there an adjustment anywhere between the pedal and the transmission that can fix this? Thanks in advance.

Re: 1998 Eclipse slipping clutch
The hydrolic master/slave are designed to work as soon as you start pushing the pedal in. If you are slipping now it's because through full plate / disc contact was not happening before but it is now and it's causing break down of the disc.
That would be my guess. It's not really possoble to cause your clutch to slip from replacing those two items inless they did something stupid like forgot to extend the piston in the slave.

Re: 1998 Eclipse slipping clutch
I bet they didn't adjust your clutch pedal correctly. The turbo models have an adjustment that lets you adjust the engagment point. Im willing to bet that your clutch is slipping because the pedal is still applying pressure to the pressure plate cause it not to clamp down like normal. This would also give you a really high engagement point.

Re: 1998 Eclipse slipping clutch
Thanks. If the weather clears tomorrow I will look at that.
