Programming Keys

I have a 2007 Corolla. I did a forum search for doing keys and did not see anything for a 2007. Does anyone have any 2007 instructions?

Thanks....John

Re: Programming Keys

Im not sure about Toyotas, but with GM vehicles, you just start the car with the good key, then take it out and start it with the new unprogramed key with in 10 seconds and it should program the new key.

This works for GM so i would give it a try, cant hurt.

Good Luck.

Re: Programming Keys

Thanks. I found out it has to be programmed by someone with a scanner (dealer or locksmith).

From what I have read so far, starting in 2007 (or 06?) it requires a special scanner to program them. Last night I had some key guy on EBay say the 07 transponder keys are "dealer restricted". Not sure what that meant. I did have one I was watching for around $28 plus shipping. I didn't buy it because I was worried that if I spent the bucks on it and I have to go to a dealer, they won't program it because I didn't get it from them. I was looking for an automotive key-smith who might the scanner.

I have programmed a Windstar and a F150 and it was pretty easy.

Where are the instructions that work? I found a few on the internet, but I'd like some confirmation onn one that really works. I just got a 2010 Corolla, and bought a back up FOB on Ebay.. First no local smiths would cut it, had to go all the way downtown to a full scale/professional locksmith store to have it cut, and then they thought I had something nefarious going on with my new FOB. He went to cut it, and came back and said 'this is someone else's key' I said it was my key. He asked ,'where is your car'?, and I answered, just down the street.. he accepted that, and cut the key..!!???

SO I have the key FOB, and it's cut, and it opens the door.. Now to try programming it. I'll wait for a warm day though...
