I would remove front brake rotors and inspect for damaged wires....then with milli volt meter measure voltage of the abs speed sensors right/left for about 500mv a/c ......spin tire/rotor when measuring.. make sure sensor is not pushed out of the hole it sits in if so remove sensor and without getting any debris in hole clean surrounding area.......there is a recall for this rust at sensor hole.......but make sure that these componets i mentioned can be removed if the dealer breaks your caliper or rotor your gonna pay for that stuff............reports have stated 1200.oo for free ABS sensor fix........use caution dealer ahead.......

Re: ABS Light Always On

J Cat is right on with all he said especially when it comes to the dealer...do a search on ABS here in the forum and there are many posts about our ABS problems.

Re: ABS Light Always On

The only fix is to replace the wheel bearings and the fix for the recall does not work.I did replace both in a 1999 suburban and it was gone after the fix.Tried getting the speed sensor out of one the old bearings. It broke due to be rusted in.GM does not cover the wheel bearings which they should do instead of cleaning the wheel speed sensors.

Re: ABS Light Always On

You might have a problem with the ABS pump or the EBCM but with both lights on I don't think it's a sensor. Jack up one or both front wheels...locate the sensor wire coming off of the wheel bearing and unplug from wiring harness. Plug the leads from a ac volt meter into the sensor wire...spin the tire really good and watch the meter. 350mv ac is the minimum. Now do the other side...if there is a big difference then the low one is the problem...but...the sensors reporting different voltages are what causes the ABS pump to activate under 10mph and it will not throw a code or cause a light to come on. You have either a bad EBCM or an open ABS pump motor. Has the ABS pump ever ran after you turned the truck off? Also...we are forgetting the simplest thing...did you check the fuses? If you have EBCM or pump problems call these people: http://www.modulemaster.com/
Twice I have needed to have both my EBCM rebuilt and a new ABS motor from Module Masters and they saved me thousands of dollars.

Re: ABS Light Always On

my 2000 silverado abs light has been on for a yr or 2. i'm pretty sure it's the ebcm. there used to be a guy (if you search on here u will find him) who you could take it out and mail it to and he would fix for 125-150. i bet thats 500 less than the dealer.i figured the trucks i grew up on didnt have anti-locks,and i made it this far.
