350 motor swap on an 86'

ok im tired of my 4.3 v6 fianlly got it to run good but want the v8 sound and power. i just replaced the electric fuel pump. i am curious how i would use the electric fuel pump on an older 350 carb motor. i know i can put a fuel pump block on the motor block to get rid of the mechanical pump. but what kind of fuel press regulator would work with my application? or do i have to use the mechanical pump and run new lines and a different sending unit for my tank?

Or, get a TBI 350 for it (L05). You have the computer (you will need a new PROM / CALPAK or MEMCAL for it, however), the sensors, the electric pump, and everything else. The L05 gets better economy than the LM1 (350 quadrajet) does as well.

Any V6-to-V8 conversion will require a beefier transmission.

Re: 350 motor swap on an 86'

yeah but i already have the older carb motor. it came with a trans as well. so i should be good in that area. i traded my corvette rally rims for the motor and tranny. i would like to know how i can make it work. i am buying parts to get this swap rolling. so any info would be great about the fuel issue.

You will have to remove or disable the pump in the tank. I believe fuel can flow through these even if they're not on, so if you remove the fuse for the fuel pump, you might be okay. You will have to use the mechanical pump on the engine.

You will have to replace the entire computer/wiring harness, as it is incompatible with a carb engine.
