What year/s was the vortec engine offered in the Yukon 2door?

I know that most have the 350 5.7L V8, but i see some people listing them with a vortec engine.

Are there only particular years that have the vortec? And what's the difference with the vortec?

This question pertains to the 2 door model if it makes a difference.

96 was the first year of the Vortec engine. From 96 to 99 (some 2000s with older body styles) have the Gen I block. After that the Vortec is based on the Gen III block (4.8, 5.3 and 6.0)

The biggest difference is the L31 heads, a roller cam, central port injection and about 50 HP better than the TBI engines (speaking about the 96 - 99 Vortec).

So you are telling me that all 96-97 2door Yukons were offered stock with the Vortec engine? As long as it was never touched and is a 350 5.7L V8?

Either way, how can you be sure it has a Vortec 5.7L when you are looking to buy a Yukon?

Yes 96 - 99 all had Vortec stock. The Vortecs have a black intake cover (plastic). The TBIs (88 - 95) has the TBI which looks similar to a 2 bbl carb.
