Trasmission Problem?
I have recently had some trouble with my '01 GT. Sometimes while driving, I start hearing a loud whine coming from under the hood, and my car starts shifting hard. Normally I am able to shut the car off, restart, and everything will be fine. Today, I got on the interstate, and the car wouldn't shift into OD and I heard the whine again. The RPM's we're fluttering, and I could feel it in the pedal. Anyone have any ideas?
I am also having a problem when the car starts. It will crank, but immediately choke down. The battery is fine, and I make sure to turn the key to allow the fuel pump to prime. It will always start on the second crank. Again, this happens only 40% of the time. It cranks just fine some days. Anyone know what this can be? Are the problems related? Please give me an idea before I put this thing in the shop and they try to sell me a new tranny just so they can make some money. Thanks! |

Re: Trasmission Problem?
the hard shifting/loud whine noise is a failing pressure control solonoid in the transmission. Not sure if the loss of overdrive is related.
Many people have unhooked the battery negative cable over night. When they drive it again, te problem is fixed (somtimes forever, sometimes for a week, sometimes not at all).... Wierd Huh?

Re: Trasmission Problem?
When you have the pressure switch done have the TCC solonoid done at the same time,I'm sure you will see it get worst as the summer heat comes on.If it really gets bad when you driving pull over and shut the car off and it will be better for awhile.
