Mixing Marlboro Maroon

Hi,
I'm building a 1967 Corvette Sting Ray as a replica of the one that my Grandfather owned (as a gift to him, of course!) and am trying to get the color just right. He had the "Marlboro Maroon" color that was used for several years by Corvette (shown below).

I am wondering if anyone has mixed this color before, or has any tips on getting it right? I mostly use the Tamiya acrylics with my airbrush, but obviously, I'm open to other paints if needed.

Thanks!

MCW might have it, and if not, may be able to mix it for you. http://ourworld.cs.com/mcwautofinish...t/catalog.html

Re: Mixing Marlboro Maroon

The pic looks good, but I'm not sure it's sufficient as a mixing guide for paint. For instance, I can't tell if it's a solid color or if it's metallic.

To make maroon, you simply mix red and black (gloss for both, of course). If you want a metallic color, I'd mix equal parts of red and gunmetal, and if it's not dark enough add a little black drop by drop. With experimenting, you should be able to get very close.

Punch in the year/make/model, select the color and place the order for delivery in the form of your choice in days.

It`s not Malboro Maroon, but I think it`s close:

It is Hondorus Maroon Metallic, part of the Testor`s custom laquer series, straight from the can.

Re: Mixing Marlboro Maroon

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I'm going to have a go at mixing it myself using the color sample on the site listed!
