2001 Yukon ABS Light and constant buzzing

I pulled into the driveway and the ABS light came on followed by a constant buzzing sound. The buzzing continued even after I turned off the engine. I googled and it appears this is the ABS pump motor that has "gone bad" or maybe a short. I disconnected the 60AMP fuse to get it to shut up. Also reading online that I can drive without further damage it but just won't have ABS....is that right?

Tomorrow I'll climb under the vehicle when its light out and look around. Anyone know what I should be looking for or where to look? Also, assuming that I have to replace it, besides a GMC dealer is there a resource online to purchase this? I haven't been able to find one.

Thanks in advance.

Re: 2001 Yukon ABS Light and constant buzzing

The buzzing sound is probably the air compressor that fills up your shocks with air. I just got a new one. If your ABS light keeps coming on, it could be the ABS sensors. They are known to go "bad." The only way to replace the sensor is by replacing the wheel hub assembly or you can have your mechanic remove/clean/and repack the sensors with grease. It worked well for me for about six months, but I eventually bought new wheel hubs from ebay and had them replaced. Hope this helps.

Re: 2001 Yukon ABS Light and constant buzzing

My 2001 Yukon XL has just started buzzing for the second time since I bought it new. The first time the dealer replaced the ABS module under warranty (I forget the date and mileage) when I agreed to have the parking brakes repaired. I now have 180k miles and another bad ABS module. Is this normal for these modules to last about 80k miles? How long do the ABSFixer modules last?

Welcome AF, this needs to be properly diagnosed with an abs function scanner before any definitve comment can be made about parts reliability. Btw start an new thread in the future.

Re: 2001 Yukon ABS Light and constant buzzing

Thanks for posting this. I had the same problem tonight and had to get someone to jump my truck before i could start it back up. I removed the fuse and the buzzing sound went away. Thanks again
