1995 Grand Cherokee Trans problem.

I have a 1995 Grand Cherokee that has I believe a 42 RE Transmission. The problem I am having is it will start out in 2nd or 3rd gear on start off. It will also not shift into overdrive. It will clear up after 10-15 minutes of driving.
I don't have adapter to hook up my scan tool under dash to retireve any data. I have replaced governer transducer and coil inside pan, but still have problem. I have monitored light green wire coming out of transmission to governer coil and found 6.0 volts with key on and 2.6-2.7 volts while driving. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead for your time.

Re: 1995 Grand Cherokee Trans problem.

Found problem, borrowed transmission control module from another 95 Gr. Cherokee and plugged it into mine. Solved problem. To whom ever has this problem and does not know, trans controler is under steering column to the left side. It has one electrical connector, and two retainer nuts (13mm wrench) under hood on fire wall. Good luck.

Re: 1995 Grand Cherokee Trans problem.

Thank you for posting an update. I had a similar problem in my '94, except it wasn't behaving any differently after driving for a while. My issue ended up being a blown fuse that controls the transmission electronics. Good work!
