Only in Australia

Only in Australia...can a pizza get to your house faster than an ambulance.

Only in Australia... are there handicap parking places in front of a skating rink.

Only in Australia... do Supermarkets make the sick people walk all the way to the back of the store to get their prescriptions, while healthy people can buy cigarettes at the front

Only in Australia... do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries...and a Diet Coke

Only in Australia... do banks leave both doors open and chain the pens to the counter.

Only in Australia... do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in the
driveway, and store our junk in the garage.

Only in Australia... do we use answering machines to screen calls and then have call waiting so we won't miss a call from someone we didn't want to talk to in the first place.

Only in Australia... do we buy hot dogs in packs of ten and buns in packs of 6 or 8.

Only in Australia... do we use the word "politics" to describe the process
of Government. "Poli" in Latin meaning "many" and "tics" meaning "blood sucking creatures"

We have all that in the United States. A guy down the street leaves his BMW 850 parked in the driveway.

The Taxis I noticed in Melbourne were called Silvertop cabs or something, and were yellow.

But in the U.S. we have a commercial (semi) truck company called "Yellow" and the cabs are orange. :o

And I can assure you that the skating rink I work at has at least 5 handicapped parking spaces. :o

Every place has those damned parking spaces. At my work, they're right next to the employee entrance, not the customer entrance. One Sunday, when we were closed and fully 3/4 of the parking spaces were empty, a coworker parked in the handicapped spot. Along comes some volunteer old goat with nothing better to do to write her a ticket, which she couldn't afford. "But we're closed!!" she said, and the old lady says "doesn't matter, you can't park here". It's private property and we were closed!!!! My coworker pled for community service because she couldn't pay the ticket.

We have 3 handicapped parking spots, 1 handicapped employee. I've NEVER seen more than 1 of the handicapped spots used.

I have no problem yielding my spot to a handicapped person...when there actually is one. One of my other coworkers actually got in a fight with a handicapped guy who was parking in a regular parking spot...he was at some store and all the handicapped spots were empty as usual and the reg. spots full, so he was pretty torqued.

I hate it when the gov'm't tries to legislate politeness.
