2002 LS A/C issue

HELP!!!

I had the AC Filter light go on in my Lincoln LS. I let that light go for about a month. Throughout this time the A/C worked as good as it had prior to the light coming on. Then it quit working and I get nothing but hot air. I changed the A/C filter and reset the code thinking it stopped working because of the filter code. Sadly, the air still doesn't work. Took it to get recharged thinking that was the problem but the A/C technician says that the system is fully charged. There are no blown fuses. I am out of possibilities. Looking for someone who has had the same problem and learned how to correct it. Thanks.

Andy

Re: 2002 LS A/C issue

Does the compressor clutch still engage? If so, it sounds like you may have the not uncommon Dual Coolant Control Valve (DCCV) problem. If the DCCV fails to shut off the flow of coolant to the heater cores, you'll get way more heat than the evaporator core can overcome.

You could also try resetting the climate control unit to see if that makes a difference, but chances are pretty good the DCCV is the issue. The procedure to reset the climate control unit has been posted here before, so I won't repost but instead point you to the very useful "Search this forum" feature from the Lincoln LS forum main page.
