Cant get Bell Housing off to replace clutch, why?

Hey guys, im new to the forum. My clutch started slipping really bad lately so I went to pep boys and got a clutch kit. I removed all the hoses, wires and bolts from the bell housing and began to pull off but then the problem presented itself and I need to solve this as soon as possible. When pulling the tranny off it gets post the dowels (about an inch) then springs back into place.
How do I remove the tranny so that I can replace the clutch and such?? The haynes manual led me nowhere as well so im pulling my hair out about now.

This is an 02 Elantra Sedan.

hi im also new to this forum,
and im glad i can help, it's very simple .look on top of the tranny ,the lever that the slave cylindre pushes on to activate the clutch when you press the clutch pedal, all you have to do is take the bolt off on that lever pull on the lever and the fork that pulls on your release bearing when you disengage the clutch will release your transmition,so make sure to hold the transmition when you pull on that lever.it's that simple!

Yes, indeed. It's an undocumented step in removing the trans. If you don't remove the clutch control arm, you'll need a big crowbar to get the thing off. Also on my 1999 Elantra there was a small bracket that holds wires on the front which I didn't see at first which is bolted thru the engine to the trans. I yanked on it for a while before I found that one.
