Break In Problem

I have a 1994 Full Size Blazer. It seems that a screw driver, hammer, and 30 seconds is all it takes to break into the vehicle. It there ANYTHING that can be done to fix this problem?

Good old 12 gauge pump shot gun puts the fear in thieves.
Something about the sound of jacking a shell into the chamber.

Are you asking about the damage done or how to keep them from doing it?

Must be the thieves are slow in your neighborhood. One smack with a hammer is all it takes. MT has the proper solution, 12 gauge does the trick.

i personally prefer some marksmanship and a good 9mm......although the shotgun sound is better, i don't like the idea of having alot of buckshot going into my vehicles...lol.

I am trying to avoid the break-in. Seems the design flaw of this year vehicle makes it an "easy mark" as my dad used to say. My local body shop suggested I shave the doors and install door poppers. This is the only way he knows that the screwdriver/hammer break-in method can be avoided.

I was hoping someone knew about an aftermarket 'kit' or something that would reinforce the door handle area. Welding more metal behind the area might work. Are there any other suggestions?

get one of those club devices for your steering wheel...if they see it and know they cant drive it...they will probably move on to someone elses vehicle...

get some fake stickers for the windows saying the vehicle is equiped with a gps monitoring system...or better yet get a system for it...

Lock the steering wheel good and put a note on truck about it.
Sometime theft alarms helps like ones with motion sensors.

Renforcing the door lock just makes them work a liitle more.
And they can always pop the window out.

But a professional theft knows all of the ropes around most stuff.
And will get it if he wants it very bad.

I would have good comp/theft auto insurance coverage.

I have saw a lot of people open a locked door with a wire type coat hanger.
But many thieves carry special unlock tools and know how to do it in the blink of a eye.

I bet theres alot of "home deterant" remidies that could be implemented....hehe get yourself a big mean dog ...or a snake...But more seriously if your neighborhood is that bad..maybe increaded lighting or think of some way to make a theif think your close by..or better yet...pull the coil wire off everytime u leave it ,,I own a 63 impalla and I have an inline switch from the battery to my starter and it sits way up under the dash..so even if they get in...they aint going anywhere..

This may be illeagle but I heard stories of people screwing razor blades to their sterio inside the dash...the guy soing to steal it would get badly cut on his attempt to steal it..I personally would not do anything like that...but there are things you can do to deter theft if you put your mind towards it..

go to a small machine shop and have them make a steel collar,,,like a thick steel pipe big enough to go around your steering colum and cut it in half weld hinges on it and lock it with a big pad lock..they wouldnt be able to get to the ignition to pull it out...or some way to lock the gear selecter...paint it bright orange so it can be easily seen from outside the truck..
