is this the brake pressure switch?

http://www.autozone.com/R,NONAPP3386...ductDetail.htm

forgive me for asking but I don't have an autozone near me (I'm in Canada) and have to have a US friend buy and ship to me. I don't want to get the wrong one. It's for a 2000 windstar 3.8 fwiw.

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

No, that's a generic brake light switch for an older car or truck. It will not replace the switch on a windstar. I do not know if the switch you need is avaiable in the aftermarket and they are in short supply at the ford dealers.

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

No, that's not it, unfortunately. If you check out this thread, it gives you the part numbers which you can use to search on rockauto.com or fordparts.com (now http://www.tituswillfordparts.com/ apparently): http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ch+part+number

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

Hi
Here is a rockauto.com photo of an aftermarket one:
http://info.rockauto.com/Airtex/Detail.html?1S5287.jpg

It was under electrical switch and relay - cruise control relay.

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

so I'm down in Florida right now and am thinking about trying to get this switch at an Autozone store. I haven't been into 1 yet but am wondering if anyone has an Autozone store number for this switch? I don't want to buy it and get all the way back home to snowy Canada to find it's the wrong part. Any info appreciated!

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

To the best of my knowledge, it's a Ford-only part. And they'll sell it to you as a kit that includes an updated wiring harness connection that includes a fusible link.

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

I looked at Autozone.com with no convincing results for your year and for the first year, 95. Tried electrical, brakes and search. What I did find under brake switch search, I couldn't be sure it is the right thing.

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

the funny thing is that if 1 auto parts place can get it usually they all can. At rockauto http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php they have it listed as a cruise control relay. So, I guess my best bet is to go in with that number is suppose.

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

I would stop by your local FORD dealership and see if they have it in stock.
It is not an expensive part......though they may be in short supply.
The dealership will be able to see if any other dealerships have the part.....on their computer system.
If they have/can get the part....it will save you a lot of fuss....and, as I said..not expensive..it is somewhere around $20 from what I remember.

What about an online Ford parts dealer? Shipping might cancel the savings gained over a regular dealer. Don't recall if anyone said they got one form an online Ford place.

Re: is this the brake pressure switch?

I purchased my replacement switch online from Bob Utter Genuine Ford Parts.
The part number is XW7Z9F924BA. Just do a web search for Bob Utter and you should be able to find it easily. A little over 20 bucks with shipping. Replaced mine a little over a year ago.
