Ideal City Car

Just trying to get a pool of opinions, from the people who probably think most like me, CRX drivers! (luv for civics too)!

Q: What is the ideal city car? (of course CRX is def on this list, but besides the rex)

I love my 89 crx, but its not good for baltimore's shitty streets. Mainly due to the modifications I unfortunately made with the suspension, headers, etc.

So I'm thinking of getting a robust, compact, economical, and somewhat beater-ish car to drive back and forth each day inside the city.

Here are some ideas:
-Civic hatch
-Jeep Wrangler
-Suzuki Samurai
?

An automatic Honda Fit. Plenty of room to lug around a bunch of crap, no clutch to screw up with stop and go traffic, and it's still a Honda.

Yeah I'd definitely have to agree with CS here. Also the car is cheap and affordable.

Re: Ideal City Car

EP3! That's what I'm looking for anyway. Every one that I've found is over 100 miles away. I really want to stay local. The 2005 Civic Si really reminds me of the old hatchies besides the extra weight of course... not too bad at 2787lbs. though with 160hp132lb/ft ivtec I know it's a 5 spd but maybe I won't tailgate so much... very tight city blocks here in G-ville, SC Anyway, the best part is this Si runs on regular. Notice also that the EP3 has more horsepower stock for a 2L than any other compact car in it's class.

Anyway, if you want a Wrangler, the 4.0L straight six is very easy to work on but gets awful city mileage. My JGC only gets about 14-16 city mpg even though it runs perfect. I keep only 32psi in the tires for a softer ride because the elevation changes constantly where I live and the roads aren't the best... haha. Good thing I only live 15 miles from work...

Re: Ideal City Car

I'd love to get a fit, but I cant afford that. I want to get something short like a crx. i.e a length less than 165 inches. But I cant afford more than $4,000.
