Unhappy I Need Some Damaged Decals Reproduced Please!

I finally won a kit on ebay that I've been after for years. It's the vintage Esci Camel Trophy Range Rover. I was delighted when it arrived, only to find that the decals had been damaged by two tires being stored on them.

I contacted the seller and he is willing to work with me since he was not aware of the damage.

Can original decals be scanned and then reproduced on an Alps or something similar? I paid quite a bit for this kit since it is so hard to find and I don't really want to return it.

The sheet is only about 1.5" by 2.5" and is very simple, consisting of two small and one larger Camel Trophy logos, a few guages, and the Range Rover lettering.

Any idea if this can be reproduced and about what it would cost me? I'm located in Charlotte, NC. Thanks for any help on this.

Yes. In fact, they can probably be scanned and then printed on an ordinary inkjet printer. But it depends on the image. What do they look like? Color or b&w? Do they have white areas? Enclosed areas where the body color should show through? Both white and clear areas? What color car will they be on?

Post an image of them, and I'll give you more specifics about how they can be reproduced.

Hey Greg,

As Didymus has said, they can definitely be reproduced. If there are no white area to be printed they can even be done on a good quiality home InkJet - there are lots of us here who do this routinely. You may need to 'mend' the image using a graphics program, i.e. remove the marks left by the tyres.

I am not familiar with this kit, but would it be possible to buy aftermarket decals for the Camel logos? This would probably give a better quality decal for you to work with.

I agree with Didymus, post a scan and no doubt you will get the advice you need.

Cheers,
Grant.

Thanks for the input so far.

I'll try and get a photo loaded tomorrow. I have a Cannon i90, would that be a high enough quality unit?

Also, after some research, I may ned to change the colors on the decals as I'm seeing some variations depending on the year.

I could print, but I don't have a scanner nor the softward for editing.

Thumbs up Re: I Need Some Damaged Decals Reproduced Please!

Well, I don't know what to say.

Didymus has so graciously offerred to repair them for me, and so far has insisted on not taking anything in return.

You don't run across people like that very often al all any more, and I'm truly grateful to him for his offer.
