Ignition problem??!!- Alero

I have a 2000 Alero and the key won't turn forward or back in the ignition, but the car acknowledges that its there because it starts beeping letting me know the door is open. And the steering wheel is not locked it can turn freely. Getting frustrated cause I can't figure it out. Anyone know what this problem could be? thanks

I'd say your lock cylinder is bad and needing replaced.

Sometimes you can jiggle the key around and get it to release, other wise you might have to force it which will break the lock cylinder for sure!

ps- dont spray any lubricants in there!
