Re: 3.1 Malibu leaking coolant
From what your saying that is in the area of the block heater, it might be leaking. The block heater is very hard to see on this car, I have one. It is stuck below the exhaust manifold, near the center of the motor. I changed one on my explorer last summer and it was so rusty I was wondering why it wasn't leaking. Hope this helps.

Re: 3.1 Malibu leaking coolant
seems like the intake is leaking again thats usually the sign if its by the tranny since the leak tends to happen in the back....you know what u can do get the uv liquid and run it through and see where its coming from...

Re: 3.1 Malibu leaking coolant
I have had this problem. If the pipes and hoses are squishy and soft that means there could be a hole or something like that. I have had tons of prolems with coolent light coming on and off and at one time, I had to get out of the highway and wait in cold as the engine's heat went up and an alarm came. I waited in cold for hours. It's a shame on GM. I will never ever buy anything from GM ever again! I will probably go for Toyota.
With Malibu, it seems like if something goes bad, it happens all of a sudden. I always carry 1 extra colent at the back just incase, because this 1999 malibu must have been given to us with faults..... I guess it's too late for anyone to sue GM. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
