Front End Noise

I am experiencing an awful sound coming from my front end when turning hard left only. Thought it might be the front wheel hub assembly, it is not that. The sound is more of a cracking or popping. Any ideas ?

Re: Front End Noise

Possibly a ball joint. Try greasing them and see if the noise changes, or goes away.

Re: Front End Noise

Thx guys, but c/v joints look good as well as ball joints. Front right tire is wearing on outside just noticed. Alignment is fine per technician. Wonder if the unusal wear ties in to this ?

Re: Front End Noise

Did you lube the ball joints? Did you check for excessive play in the ball joints? You can't tell just by looking at it if a ball joint is good. Are there any CV boots that are torn and/or leaking grease? If so, the joint needs repair. Front tire wear on the outside is not normal. It could be a control arm bushing, wheel bearing, steering linkage problem, or wheel alignment out of specification. Might want to find a new front end shop and get a second opinion.
