Re: Adding pure acetone to gas to increas MPG

There was a discussion last year in another forum on this site concerning the use of acetone. Maybe it can give you a little insight into the issue:http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=712461 .

Acetone is very distructive to plastics. I would hesitate to use it on any car with plastic fuel lines/injector rails/injectors.

Re: Adding pure acetone to gas to increas MPG

I have a 2000 ford focus zetec sedan, and have been using 3oz acetone to 10 u,s gallons of gas and 3 oz of xylene 1 oz amsoil 100to1 2 stroke oil and 1 oz metalon gas additive with absolutely no bad effects at all.I religously keep records of my mileage on the hwy and was averaging 35 to 38 miles per gallon. I installed a pcv cleaner which you can read about on the water for gas website {cleans the crank case gases before entering motor}.Since i have been using this combination On my scangauge this afternoon on the same road i obtained 50.5 mpg at 98 kms per hour. With the upcoming installation of my modified sparkplugs, kiker plug wires, fuel preheater and warm air intake i should be getting approx 60+ miles per gallon this combo works on almost every vehicle and greatly increases life of your motor. Dont let the scare mongers and others that know nothing of what they are talking about tell you any different. There are 1000s OF PEOPLE DOING THIS AND THE ONLY THING THEY ARE HURTING IS THE OIL COMPANIES POCKET BOOKS.The environment will thankyou and so will your wallet.

Re: Adding pure acetone to gas to increas MPG

Sorry guys but this thread has been moved to the AF Cars in General Fuel Economy forum. This issue being discussed is too general in nature and off -topic and from what I can see not specific to any Pontiac Grand Prix model.

For my truck, just a little over 3 oz per 10 gallons was the ideal mix. It seems to vary from engine to engine, but I'd start with 2 and keep increasing the mix until you find the perfect amount for your engine.

Re: Adding pure acetone to gas to increas MPG

Try adding 3 to 4 ozs of xylene per 10 gallons to the mix and if you have any synthetic 2 stroke oil add 1 oz this will lubricate cylinder rings. myself and my friends are getting amazing results with this combo. Doesnt seem to make much difference on my hemi truck though im getting po420 cat inefficienty code changed post and pre cat o2 sensors and still gives me a code must be plugged, going to cut it off this week as my truck runs on propane as well as gas dont need it for propane in canada.

Re: Adding pure acetone to gas to increas MPG

I have tryed acetone before and it destroyed my rubber gas lines. Granted it could of been the age of the car. But it developed problems after using acetone. I have since changed over to a product that actuially changes the flashpoint. My mileage is up from 300 miles per tank to 380 miles per tank. Been tested by an EPA laboratory to lower emissions and increase gas mileage. At least that's what the website says. Either way it works well for my Audi.
