Owners of MR2's

I got a question for ppl that own an MR2. Especially people that used an MR2 for a project car. Out of curiosity how much approximately did you guys spend on performance? and how much power did u get? and how much did u spend on looks? and was it mostly interior or mostly exterior?

I have a lot of visions of what i could do with an MR2 but I also see those dollar signs (they need a sign of $100 bills not pennies ) floating behind them as they become custom mods.

One idea I had which i was wondering if you guys think is even possible would be to have the cluster(all the gages speedo, tach, odo, boost etc.) fold away into the dash. Pretty mcuh when i shut off the car it you wouldnt be able to see anything inside the car except for a smooth dash. I was also thikin of havin sumthin go over the stereo setup and climate controls....but that is a maybe. But any opinions on this would be great. especially from ppl that work in custom shops or had custom work done to their MR2. I think i would be able to set it up....just not sure if there is room.

with enough money you can do just about anything. I've probably got about 20k into my mr2. with the current rebuild, it doesn't even run yet. i have 3 engines for it, and none are in the car though.

lol....just out of curiousity why do u have 3 engines? I can see 2 because you prolly keep the original if you did an engine swap.

Re: Owners of MR2's

one is taken apart, one has a spun bearing (just came out of the car), and one is going in the car right now (2.2L stroker race motor)

What makes a motor a race motor? is it just the aftermarket parts/materials that ppl use to make the motor? or are the motors that are designed specifically for one purpose?

Re: Owners of MR2's

forged internals, higher tolerances, high flow head, etc. designed to be driven harder, probably won't last as long.
