brakes rubbing on rotor is this common with saturn
I notice my from brake pads were a little low, so i check the front left side. After I put the brake back on, while i started driving I heard the front right brakes rubbing on the rotor. So i check them out the brakes had a little meat on them but the little metal clip the help hold the brakes in place look like what was rubbing.................is that common ...............I was going to get new front brakes and get the rotors cut

Re: brakes rubbing on rotor is this common with saturn
The metal clip shouldnt be touching the rotor. The only metal part that will touch the rotor would be if you had the type of pads with a curved metal finger - that will only touch the rotor when the pads are worn down. Its purpose is to make a little squeal so you know its time for new pads.
I have seldom seen rotors that needed to be turned. The minor grooving wont hurt anything, and the new pads will quickly confirm to match the grooves. If the grooves are really bad - its likely the rotor thickness (measured at the bottom of the deepest grooves) is down to where they should be replaced. |
