In reguards to all the locked threads...

If anyone was wondering about all the locked threads near the top of the board...
Some idiot signed up and decided it was his job to clog as many forums as possible with dead threads. He went around and voted in as many OLD OLD polls as he could, dragging them to the top of the boards and drowning out useful and current information. I've closed all of the threads he's drug up. But I'm not going to delete them as that would take away from postcounts. Personally I think they make the board look "ugly" so we should all help the situation by starting NEW and interesting threads. That means go out there and race people!(disclaimer, I'm not encouraging any illegal activities, you do what you want) So yeah, just letting everyone know what the situation is. Also, redneck383 brought it to my attention that in order to prevent someone from doing this again, whenever you create a poll, MAKE IT TIME OUT AFTER A CERTAIN NUMBER OF DAYS!!! This is done by changing the poll timeout option from '0' to however many days you want. Give polls as many days as you want, but be reasonable. We don't need to vote in a poll 2 years down the road And one final thing...Look at the date of the last post when you're replying to a thread. I saw a couple people who had replied to posts 2 years old, lol

I applaud this... I support this timeout option, I remember when I did my top PW thread, I put a one month timeout on it. I didn't want to see it getting dragged up next year when it wasn't relevant... or something like that

Yeah, Poll lock out times is a good idea... but it took an idiot >Me< to think it up. Ha haa...

I think a 30 day limit isnt too unreasonable, If you're around to vote great but if you miss out on it... To Bad, Oh Well, Try Again Next Time.

30 days sound good to me as well. And if anyone sees an old thread that they find interesting, start a new one about the same subject. No one here minds too much about reposts, I don't think. In offtopic where everything moves so so fast reposts are disliked because they push original threads further down the board. But here I don't think it would matter too much. If you see an old poll or something that's timed out, go ahead and start a new version of the poll with a new perspective on it. No problem with that

most of the time when i come on to this site, i don't even come into the forums i just go to my profile to check for new replies in the threads i've already replied to. i'm tired of seeing old threads repeatedly pop up in there, especially when they don't have any new replies and they just pop up cuz someone voted. plus i'm too lazy to go unsubscribe from them . i could nominate a few of my own threads for lockage...

Nothing is really "wrong" with them I suppose. Just kind of pointless to post a reply in a thread where the previous reply was 2 or 3 months old. At that point it's almost a 100% likelyhood that your post will be irrelevant. If you really want to get your ideas/information out there though, feel free to start up a new thread! And about pulling up old posts just because of a vote...That's very wrong. Extremely annoying and worthless. Much better if you have your polls time out after some amount of time. Be liberal with how much time you allow them to stay open, that's fine. Just put some kind of limit on it. Makes it so people like RockyV can't do what he did.

Like I said in my first post, it's not really a problem in this forum. In offtopic yea, it's annoying to see reposts, because they have so many new threads that posting old ones pushes the original ones down more quickly. But there aren't enough new threads in here for that really to be a problem.
