Trying to decide on a new car...

Well, as good of a car the Honda is for a DD...I've come to realize that its just not my style so I'm ready for something else. I think I'm going to save my graduation money and then sell the civic and buy what I want. Theres only really three cars I've been thinking about. Give me you input.

Grand Prix GTP supercharged (preferably 2 door):

Buick Regal GS/GSE/GSX supercharged

Grand Am GT (preferably 4 door)

I remember someone said "the adverage age of a buick owner is 'dead'." Can't remember where I heard it from...anyway, out of your choices I would pick the GTP. I don't care for white and that one still looks bad ass.

The Grand Am is gonna be your best bet on reliability and fuel economy.

Re: Trying to decide on a new car...

Wow dude, you suck at picking cars.

I knew of a tool that drove one of those big ass Regals around barking the tires at people. Funny thing is, he got beat by the EG hatch I was riding that had a D16, I/H/E, lots of weight reduction, and 4 people sitting in it. I'd say the only one out of all of those I have any small amounts of respect for is the GTP, and when I say small I mean small. I assume your budget is like 8-10 grand right? For that kind of money on a DD I would get a WRX. Not only will it be a good bit quicker than any of those chunkers, but I hear the WRX is just an overall great ride and the AWD would pwn the fwd especially if you have snow in the winter. If you arent down with the Scooby, my next choice in that general price range would be an M3. I know a guy that would probably sell you his if he still has it for cheap.

Re: Trying to decide on a new car...

The Buick is a massively easy car to drive. Because it's made for old people, the steering on that bitch is super light. I've never felt a car be able to turn as quickly as that thing. My granny had one and my family just took it from her. It's the un-supercharged one, but same car and had some decent pickup.

The Grand Ams are good also. Don't have too much experience with them, but good reliable cars.

It wasnt a supercharged regal then. I find it extremely hard to believe that an all motor regal lost to a D series honda, though.

But anyways. My first choice in cars would be the regal GS/GSE/GSX, but I will probably end up getting the GTP just because they're easier to find.

I love the regals though. 2 of my friends have Non supercharged Regal LS's, and I really like them. Like David said, they drive good, and even the unsupercharged ones still get off.

No one really seems to like my choice of cars. But these three fall into the category of what I really want. A bigger car, with decent performance, thats going to be reliable, and is easy to drive. Something to cruise with.

Thor06 recommended a M3 and a scooby. Though the M3 is a sexy car, neither the Beemer or the scooby has an abundance of parts available like these GM cars do. If I needed a part for one of these, It would be nothing to replace. Plus there is really no place around here that works on Suburus or BMW.

Re: Trying to decide on a new car...

Maybe I dont rememer right then, but yes, it was a S/C'd Regal. And Scoobies have a large aftermarket following, but hey if you just like squishy grandma cars then its all you.

Re: Trying to decide on a new car...

If I had to pick from those three, I'd go with the Prix. Those GTPs really get up and go, and it'll be reliable too. Next I'd go with the Grand Am, they're not quite as fast, but still nice looking, and reliable. I just have a thing about Buicks being for old people, supercharged or not, I would never buy a Regal.

And Dustin, I think he meant there is no where to get OEM parts from a dealer for the Subaru or BMW where he's from in case he needs a part quickly.

Thats exactly what I mean.

And I'll probably end up with a grand am/prix, because I dont think I'll be able to find the regal I want.

Slvreclipse....
I'm gonna keep the honda....just long enough for me to find what I want...buy that then sell that joker

Not trying to fuss or nothing.

But I just can't see that happening. Any d series honda would have to work damn hard to even outrun a N/A regal. Most all hondas for that matter, since nothings they have is really fast minus maybe an s2k or s/c rsx.

I've got mad love and faith in these old Grandma cars, lol.

For not trying to, you are doing a pretty good job.

It WAS an SC'd Regal, I know that for sure because remember the silver LS1 Camaro I raced in the Talon? Same guy, we talked about the Regal that night. Maybe we didnt race it and one of the riders said he beat him in a race, I guess I cant remember... but I am almost positive that we were in the right lane and he pulled up in the left, we hit a light, he revved, and when the light turned, he spun and we took off. He was starting to gain ground, but then we had to slow because we were down town. The other thing is that car has had a whole slew of motors and mods done, I may be mistaken on what he had done at the time. I know that the car has had a D16 and B18 in there as well as possibly a B16, each NT and tubo'd at various times in the car. I know that the B18 was still sitting in the garage at the time, but a B16 or a D16 (both Vtec) may have been in there along with a turbo, I think it was a 18g sized Garrett. The car was no push over, pretty sure its best time was a 12.9 with the turbo'd B18 and I think it could give it to the 13.6 SRT running around, even just on the turbo D16. Now would you please get the hell off my back about it?
