Engine Misfire
97' Chevy S-10
2.2L 4|cylinder Fuel Injected Quote:
What would be the best way cost effective way to go about this? I was going to pull the spark plugs tomorrow morning give them a glance. Make sure the injector wires are connected. Driving through a neighborhood, hitting stop signs and slowing down for bumps.. and rev'd up after one stop sign. Mid way up a hill. That was all she wrote. Now she misfires like a ______. Any/all help appreciated. |

Re: Engine Misfire
Go for a basic tune up with good AC delco plugs and see if you can find the misfire.
Clean MAF sensor. Check fuel pressure. Check cat back pressure. The code 1141 is a evap solenoid or plug flow problem. That may be caused by bad sensors or sensor reading or wiring to the pcm. With a good engine capable scanner check BARO-IAT-ECT-TPS-and fuel gauge reading - AND PLUGE FLOW READINGS. Also watch and check for any other codes. For cat rattle check the shield around cat. If the rattle is inside the cat is lose inside. Usually caused by engine misfire or rich exhaust and or not running right. Before working on/replacing the cat fix the engine running problems. Also remember on the 97 the ign switch is a know problem area. MT

Re: Engine Misfire
Ok... no better way to fix things then to just get in there and do it.
Went to Advanced Auto.. got new spark plugs, wires, gap tool, the gooey stuff for the spark plugs, sparkplug socket, and a couple of O2 sensors. Bought all the crap because I didn't have any of it. Besides the fact the ground was wet from rain, and it was freezing outside. It went fairly smooth. I changed one sparkplug. then ran the wire... then did the next, and so on.. so I didn't cross wires or something. Went smooth. Then I replaced the O2 sensor on the downpipe I guess that's what it's called. then another 02 after the convertor.. Get this.. While I was down there. I bumped the Dust cover over my Flex Plate. That mofo. was loose, so I tightened it up (guessing that was the rattle I was hearing) checked fuel lines a couple other easy check things.. Injector wires and so-on. Started her up Purs like a kitten. I love it when shit goes the way it's suppose to. I drove up to advanced auto they reset the code.. so I got no error light now, drove a good 20miles.. interstate, and town driving.. No code came back on.. I love it! Just in time too. I work Wednesday, Thursday this week. Thanks for the tips MT-2
