Running rough - 94 Achieva
This is the first time to this site. Thank you all for any help you can give. I have a question about ignition and coils. I've been threw the serch option and didn't find this answer so...
On this 94 Achieva W/2.3L ovc engine and 175,000 miles (now that that is out of the way) It is not firing on one plug. Only on three. I've replaced the plugs to be sure it wasn't the plug and the same cylinder is not firing. I've had the Ign. Control Mod. checked and its good. Is it possible for a coil to work on one cylinder and not the other, sense it operates two cylinders? Or am I looking at replacing the coil housing unit that works as the plug wires? ![]() This is what I've narrowed it down to but if someone else has an idea I'd love to hear it. Thank you again and hope to hear from someone soon. Jerry... PS. What ever happened to the old school plug wires and points? I guess I'm showing my age ain't I? Now come on. I know there are some smart folks out there that can answer this question about the coil. Anyone?

Re: Running rough - 94 Achieva
Well if this was too stupid of a question I'm sorry but I just work on my old Goldwing. These new cars are a bit much for me.
Please, someone that knows these cars give me some kind of an answer. I'm wanting to get the wifes car moving again before she makes me buy her another Achieva.

Re: Running rough - 94 Achieva
Well, I've given up on this site. If after a week I can't get anyone to answer me this can't be a site worth my time! Sorry I feel this way but I posted this question on the Goldwing forum I go to daily and they answered me in a couple hours and it had nothing to do with a Goldwing.
This site sucks! |

Re: Running rough - 94 Achieva
Welcome to AF.
Search should have found threads on the same problems. Thankx but 6 days isnt realy a week ! Posting multiple threads doesnt help , and they will be deleted. If you replaced the plugs & the ICM checked ok, then your coils or the conntive boots are bad. With those miles you might as well replace the coils and connecting boots. If the troubles still persist then your ICM is probly goin out. Prety simple system.
