01 Impala Starting Problems
Hi all,
I have a '01 Impala that will not start when I turn the key - no clicking, nothing. I replaced the battery, and still nothing. I can, however start the car if I have a friend disconnect the pos. cable from the battery, turn key to "on" and touch cable to battery. This sometimes takes two or three tries. Could this be a passkey issue or a BCM issue? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Re: 01 Impala Starting Problems
Probably a bad ignition switch...

Re: 01 Impala Starting Problems
Mine is an 03, but I wrestled with starting issues same exact symptom on about 3 occasions. 1st time it happened at the mall. I found the "crank relay" under the hood inside the black electrical panel, unplugged it and tapped in on the pavement in case it was sticking. I got it home and for several more occasions repeated the symptom and solution. It costs about$12 so I got a spare. I've seen a lot about the PCM, but when it happened again it was my starter. I was skeptical but had the old starter bench tested and the guy said, "wtf, man this thing's pegging on amps". So I guess that the two things may have been related. One year of driving with no recurrence, so I'm pleased.

never do that again unless you want to buy a new computer for your car this is a no no,,,,,,you most likely need a new starter,, because of your solution to getting the engine started i would bring to a repair shop for troubleshooting ........ |
