Smarten Up People!

Well,

after really getting into this hobby, I had an episode on thursday night.

Was working on my models sprayed 3 bodies playing with the new spray brush. well my wife called me for bed and just as i got out of my chair i got really light headed and did a face plant into the wall! well went to the hospital, found out that my Lungs where alittle messed up! Now i have been told that my lungs where not damage however i had blacked out from lack of O2, I figured this out as once i got up i went right on to my deco bottle ( 100% o2) and felt fine however we went to the hospital just incase.

Guys, Don't be dumb.. If you are going to work on spraying and sanding wear a mask!

Hey Michael, looks like your learning everything the hard way, have you got stitches yet? That's when you become a real modeler.

Re: Smarten Up People!

With as many threads as there have been on the risks of spraying without proper ventilation as well as a section in the FAQ and threads frequently asking which is best due to the frequent warnings, it worries me we still have to warn folks.

Michael, I think it's a good thing you're sharing your experience to hopefully warn others of the risk.

Re: Smarten Up People!

are we missing the point here, is lack of oxygen the same as been overpowered by fumes.
if you have good extraction then the fumes and dust should be taken away,
Michael do you suffer from light headedness when getting up after sitting for a while,
or on other occasions, could be diabetes or low blood suger levels

Re: Smarten Up People!

Well you be carefull, I am certainly going to watch out, can get so involved that you forget whats going on, some of those paints and glues smell pretty potent, look at all the protection the professionals use. we are doing the same thing but on a small scale

Re: Smarten Up People!

Just to make/emphasize an important point: You REALLY should wear a mask even if you have a spray booth. It's impossible to get all of the paint fumes out of the room even with a powerful fan.

Re: Smarten Up People!

Yup,

Which is why i plan on wearing mine now when i spray and for a few min after the spraying is done and while i am sanding. For the $30 bucks and the looking funny for a few mins aday i think its well worth it.
