MAF sensor (2000 4d, 2wd blazer)
Hi... again
![]() Last week my blazer started bogging down on acceleration and some of the cylinders would miss. Took it to the auto shop and had them read it with the computer (check engine light came on). Said my O2 sensors were off and causing a random cyclinder misfire. Mechanic advised me to try changing my air filter (which was pretty dirty) and clean the MAF with some special MAF spray. Did so and they cleared the computer, works just fine now and sensors are reporting correctly and no more check engine codes. I noticed that it seemed to chug only once (like one cyclinder missed) off a stop sign, but no codes and did not do it again. Should I replace my MAF sensor? What about 0xygen sensors? The computer shows them running fine, but they're the originals on a 2000 blazer. BTW, have done a full tune-up about a year ago and am running some fuel system cleaners mixed in the gas. What do you think? |

Re: MAF sensor (2000 4d, 2wd blazer)
What engine?
What is the mileage on engine and last tune up? Was AC delco plugs and parts used on tune up? Is you fuel mileage up to par or what it was when you got it? If cleaning the MAF sensor helped I would give it another cleaning and keep a good clean air filter and fuel filter on it. 02 sensors last a lot longer than they used to and are expensive to replace all of them. Some say to replace them ever so often. But It is a tough call to say to replace or know if they are getting weak. Only a good engine capable scanner or lab scope can be used to test them. MT

Re: MAF sensor (2000 4d, 2wd blazer)
Hi,
let's see. Its at 96,000 miles. Used all AC Delco parts except the rotor cap, which they didn't have. Replaced fuel filter a year ago along with everything else. Last tune up was a year ago. From some rough calculations, I think its getting like 2 mpg less than when I got it. Can't really trust that until I replace my fuel sending unit, I'm not sure at what point it started acting up, so not sure when my gauge started misreporting a little. Thanks! |
