Unhappy 1997 isuzu rodeo will not run

This rodeo has been at the ISUZU dealership for over 1 year. The car stopped running last February. The vehicle now has a new ECM (multiple replacements), new distributor, new coil and new crank sensor. Grand total $1,400. The dealership has called in their field engineer, he got it running. I was told the car was finished. I drove the vehicle 5 miles and it popped the ECM and the ECM has now been replaced a couple of times. The dealer says it runs about 3 minutes and pops the new ECM. Is there anyone out there that has an answer?????

my guess is that there is a bad short in the wire harness that is frying the ECM.

Re: 1997 isuzu rodeo will not run

It was sitting at the dealership to be worked on for an entire YEAR and they still couldn't resolve the issue??

There are two high tech Isuzu mechanics that visit this board on occasion....2eyefishclaw and JLEMOND, I couldn't imagine why either of these gentleman were never called in or contacted regarding your situation seeing as the dealer had your truck for so long.

Re: 1997 isuzu rodeo will not run

That is the direct they have led me to now. A wiring harness, however, that is proving hard to find. Yes, the car was in a repair shop for 5 months or so and they carried it to the local Isuzu dealership and it has been there for about 7 months. They tell me the field engineer and several different people from ISUZU has been called in on this vehicle. I am so frustrated. This is 2008 and this is not an ancient vehicle!! Thanks for your input. I am getting desperate and thought this forum might help...

Look on this forum for 2eyefish or JLEMOND and send them a private message, I'm positive one of them could assist....it may take them a bit to respond, as they're not on this board every day.
